HYUNDAI STEEL COMPANY
HYUNDAI STEEL COMPANY, which began in 1953 as the first steel company in Korea, has contributed to the development of the national economy by overcoming numerous challenges with a sense of mission that “the development of the steel industry is directly linked to strengthening national competitiveness.” Furthermore, by completing an integrated steel mill in 2010 for the first time among private companies, it has grown and advanced into a global steelmaker with the world’s best product portfolio.
Above all, as a member of Hyundai Motor Group, Hyundai Steel plays a key role in the group’s resource-circulation value chain that connects “from molten metal to automobiles.” The molten metal produced in Hyundai Steel’s blast furnaces becomes automobiles, and end-of-life vehicles are melted again in electric arc furnaces to be reborn as H-beams and rebars that form the framework of buildings. This organic resource-circulation structure contributes substantially to reducing greenhouse gases through efficient energy use.
